# Custom Domains

Hosting your Cloud content on a custom domain

Smmall Cloud allows users to assign a custom domain to their profiles. Here's the steps to setting that up.&#x20;

### Add your Custom Domain

Go to your [profile page](https://smmall.cloud/me/profile) and scroll to the bottom to the "Custom Domain" section

<figure><img src="/files/mByRUHf00HBuQqEXRrJF" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Enter your desired domain and save the updates. You will see an "Invalid Configuration" warning.

<figure><img src="/files/6Rc5lprRFkoZdKAu52vy" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

[Add the provided values to your domain's DNS](#configuring-your-dns) as a CNAME record. Once they've been updated, Smmall Cloud will automatically assign a SSL certificate to your domain. There may be a delay in this process while your DNS propagates but it usually happens instantly.

Once your DNS has been updated and SSL issued, you will see a "Valid Configuration" message and all of your files will be served under your custom domain.

<figure><img src="/files/PQMhcIsX5lS1e272twAo" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## Configuring your DNS

#### 1. Log into your domain provider

This is where you registered your domain (e.g., GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google Domains, etc). (If you're not sure who your domain provider is, you can look it up at [https://who.is](https://who.is/).)

#### **2. Find the DNS settings**

Look for a section called something like:

* “DNS”
* “DNS Management”
* “Zone Editor”
* “Manage DNS”

#### **3. Add a new CNAME record**

Once you're in the DNS settings:

* **Type**: Select `CNAME`
* **Name / Host**: Enter the value provided by Smmall Cloud. Sometimes you will need to entire the full domain like `files.myhost.com`. Sometimes your host will require that you only enter the subdomain portion like `files`&#x20;
* **Value / Points to**: Enter [`cname.vercel-dns.com`](http://cname.vercel-dns.com/)
* **TTL**: Leave this at the default setting (like “1 hour” or “Automatic”)

#### **4. Save the record**

Click the **Save** or **Add Record** button.

#### 5. Wait for it to update

DNS changes can take a few minutes to several hours to go live—usually it’s pretty quick, but it can take up to 24 hours.

# Pinned Files

Pinned files are a feature that lets you highlight your most important content at the top of your Smmall Cloud profile. They appear prominently on your public profile page, making it easy for visitors to discover your featured work, portfolio items, or key resources.

### What are Pinned Files?

Pinned files are selected items from your Smmall Cloud that you want to showcase on your profile. Unlike regular files that appear in chronological order, pinned files stay at the top of your profile and can be arranged in any order you choose.

{% embed url="<https://levi.smmall.cloud/MTc3MzA2NDAwODE4OA>" %}

#### **Why Use Pinned Files?**

* **Showcase your best work**: Highlight your portfolio pieces, case studies, or favorite projects
* **Guide visitors**: Direct people to your most important resources first
* **Professional presentation**: Create a curated, organized profile experience
* **Quick access**: Make your key files easy to find without scrolling

### How to Pin a File

<figure><img src="/files/z9Dc4rdXTXrAQF44rDZB" alt="" width="563"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

# Links (Permalinks)

Create custom, trackable short links to share your content with anyone. Links can point to external URLs or to files and folders hosted on Smmall Cloud.

### **Overview**

The Links feature allows you to:

* Create memorable short URLs with custom slugs
* Protect links with passwords, email gates, or expiration dates
* Track views and see where your traffic comes from
* Customize link previews with titles, descriptions, and thumbnails
* Generate QR codes for easy sharing

### **Creating a Link**

1. Navigate to [**Links**](https://smmall.cloud/me/links) in your dashboard
2. Click **Create Link**
3. Enter the destination URL
4. Customize your link settings (see below)
5. Click **Save Link**

<figure><img src="/files/iWgK5BHimLyOyaRyGlYU" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Destination URL**

Enter any valid URL you want to redirect to. Smmall Cloud will automatically fetch the page's Open Graph metadata (title, description, and image) to use as the default preview.

**Custom Slug**

Choose a memorable slug for your short link. For example, if your slug is my-project, your link will be:

```
https://yourdomain.smmall.cloud/l/my-project
```

If you have a [custom domain](/custom-domains) configured, it will use that instead:

```
https://yourcustomdomain.com/l/my-project
```

The availability of your chosen slug is checked in real-time as you type.

### **Security Options**

Protect your links with one of four security modes:

**Open (None)**

Anyone with the link can access the destination immediately.

**Password Protected**

Visitors must enter a password before being redirected. Set your password when creating the link.

**Email Gated**

Visitors must provide their email address to access the content. Collected emails are stored and can be viewed in your link statistics.

**Expiration**

The link becomes inaccessible after a specified date and time. Quick-select options are available for common durations:

* +1 day
* +1 week

### **Customizing Link Previews**

When someone shares your link on social media or messaging apps, a preview card is displayed. You can customize:

* **Title** - The headline shown in the preview
* **Description** - A short description of the content
* **Thumbnail** - The preview image (upload your own or use the automatically fetched image)

  If you don't customize these fields, Smmall Cloud uses the Open Graph metadata from the destination URL.

<figure><img src="/files/2yfbhR77wWkNTKnVK8zf" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### **QR Codes**

Every link automatically gets a QR code that you can:

* Preview in the link editor
* Download as a PNG image
* Use in printed materials, presentations, or digital media

### **Link Statistics**

<figure><img src="/files/0cBSv8ag0aR81tihzLOb" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Track how your links perform with built-in analytics:

**Views**

* **Total views** - All-time click count
* **Monthly views** - Views in the current month
* **Daily breakdown** - Bar chart showing views over the last 30 days
* **Referrers**

  See where your traffic is coming from. Referrer tracking shows which websites and platforms are driving clicks to your links.

To view statistics:

1. Go to your Links dashboard
2. Click the stats icon on any link
3. View the analytics panel

### **Tips**

* **Keep slugs short and memorable** - They're easier to share verbally and in print
* **Use expiring links for time-sensitive content** - Promotions, event RSVPs, or limited offers
* **Email-gate valuable content** - Build your mailing list while sharing resources
* **Check your referrers** - Understand which channels drive the most traffic
* **Customize previews** - A good title and thumbnail increase click-through rates

Inside a folder, each file row has a drag handle on the right side. Press and hold the handle, then drag the file up or down to reposition it. The new order saves automatically.

### Sharing a Folder

Sharing a folder works just like [sharing a file](/ios/share-a-file). Every folder gets its own link.

* **Swipe right** on the folder to copy the link
* **Swipe left** to open the share sheet
* **Long-press** and choose **Copy Link**, **Share**, or **QR Code**

When someone opens a folder link, they see all the files inside, arranged in the order you set, using the display mode you chose.

#### Custom Folder Links

Just like files, you can create a [custom short link](/ios/share-a-file#custom-links) for a folder:

1. Long-press the folder and tap **Edit Link**
2. Set a memorable slug (e.g., `vacation-photos`)
3. Customize the link preview for social sharing
4. Tap **Save**

Now your folder is at `yourname.smmall.cloud/l/vacation-photos`.

### Editing a Folder

To change a folder's name or cover image:

1. Long-press the folder and tap **Edit**
2. Update the name or pick a new cover image
3. Tap **Save**

### Deleting a Folder

Long-press the folder and tap **Delete**. You'll see a confirmation warning that this will permanently delete the folder **and all its contents**. This can't be undone.

# Receive a File

How to receive a file on your phone or ipad

Sometimes you need someone to send you a file — maybe a client's logo, a friend's photos, or a document from a coworker. Instead of juggling email attachments or messaging apps, just share your Inbox link. Anyone can upload files to it, no account required.

### How the Inbox Works

Your Smmall Cloud account has a personal Inbox with its own unique URL. When someone visits that URL, they get a simple upload page where they can drop files for you. Those files then appear in your **Inbox** tab.

Think of it like a digital dropbox (lowercase d) — people put files in, you take them out.

### Finding Your Inbox Link

1. Open the **Inbox** tab from the sidebar
2. Tap the **@** icon in the toolbar
3. Your Inbox URL appears in a sheet — tap **Copy** to grab it

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/xEec5yBn8dORJWPpwa2B" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

Your Inbox URL looks something like this:

```
yourname.smmall.cloud/inbox/abc123
```

The code at the end is unique to your account and keeps your inbox private to only people you share the link with.

#### Sharing Your Inbox Link

Once copied, you can paste your Inbox URL anywhere:

* Drop it in a text message or email
* Add it to a form or website
* Include it in your Smmall Cloud profile links (see Customize Your Profile)
* Print it as a QR code for in-person use

### Checking Your Inbox

Files people send you show up in the **Inbox** tab. Open the sidebar and tap **Inbox** to see everything that's arrived.

Each file shows:

* The file name and type
* A thumbnail preview (for images and videos)
* When it was received

Tap any file to open it in the viewer, just like your own files.

{% hint style="info" %}
When someone sends you a file you will also be notified by the email associated with your Smmall Cloud account.
{% endhint %}

### What You Can Do with Inbox Files

Inbox files support the same actions as your regular files:

* **View** — Tap to open in the full-screen viewer
* **Copy Link** — Swipe right to grab the share link
* **Share** — Swipe left to open the share sheet
* **Edit** — Change the file name or add a description
* **Move to Folder** — Organize received files into your folders
* **Delete** — Remove files you no longer need

#### Downloading Inbox Files

Need to save received files to your device?

1. Tap **Edit** in the toolbar to enter multi-select mode
2. Select the files you want to download
3. Tap the selection menu and choose **Download**
4. Pick a folder on your device to save them to

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/SGPRYwU7biDkcjn5ns43" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

The app will download each file and save it to your chosen location.

# Customize your profile

Your Smmall Cloud profile is your public identity. It shows up when people view your shared files, visit your profile page, or see your links previewed on social media. Making it yours takes just a few minutes.

Your profile information appears on every link you share so it's important to pick a profile that accurately represents you or your brand.

### Setting Up During Onboarding

When you first sign in, the app walks you through a quick setup:

#### 1. Choose Your Domain

Your domain is your personal address on Smmall Cloud. It becomes part of every link you share.

<div align="left"><figure><img src="/files/cCvpKSpY0lZ24Q1yBNCs" alt="" width="341"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

* Type in a name (letters, numbers, and underscores only)
* The app checks availability in real time — you'll see a checkmark when it's good
* Your URL will be `yourname.smmall.cloud`

Pick something short and memorable. This is what people will see in every link.

{% hint style="info" %}
Note that you cannot change your domain after creating your profile. You can add a custom domain to your profile domian though.
{% endhint %}

#### 2. Set Your Display Name

Enter the name you want shown on your profile and shared files. This can be your real name, a brand name, or anything you like.
